This workshop covers what is needed to successfully open a family, group or childcare center before you complete the orientation certification class offered by OCDEL(Office of Child Development and Early Learning). Many times people take the orientation certification class mandated by OCDEL in order to open a family, group or child care center to prematurely. Take a step back before you take the orientation course and ask yourself these questions, Do I have a location for my center? Can I use my house to operate a family childcare program? How much funding do I need to start? How can I obtain funding? What does the health department require from me? What education and training do I need to open a facility and how to obtain?
This workshop is also a networking workshop where you will be given resources to individuals who you will need during the process of starting your childcare business, such as architects, alarm system installers, payroll services, credit repair, signage, etc. Occasionally these individuals will be invited to attend the workshop.
As if you needed more rules and policies to follow, this workshop is designed for providers who wish to sponsor their own Child and Adult Food Program. We will cover what you need to begin and once approved what you need to run the program in most simplest way . The key is to be successful and not jeopardize federal funding.
This workshop is for beginners and sponsors that are about to be audited. This is a 2 1/2 hour workshop due to the amount of material that needs to be covered.

Planning summer camp can be stressful. You want children to have fun and parents to pay for it. For years, I have been asked to share the success of Camp Moonbeam and how to plan a similar program. This workshop is for providers who want to plan a summer program for preschoolers to school age.
Individuals who are also interested in starting a summer program that is non-licensed can also attend, as summer camps are not governed by OCDEL. However, we will teach best practices to run your program in this workshop.
